The Rainbow Run in Dun Laoghaire, Ireland

What happens when a bunch of people are herded into a parking lot, handed a pair of hot pink sunglasses, and given the opportunity to run amok with bags of colored powder in their hands, with the permission to throw this powder absolutely everywhere, and on every person they see?

Silly, goofy, laugh-and-squeal-like-a-five-year-old fun happens, that’s what!

I participated in The Rainbow Run this weekend – a 5K run that took place on the west pier in Dun Laoghaire, Ireland. The event was a total blast – a good excuse to act like a kid again and get in old-fashioned food fights, except this time the “food” was brightly colored powdery paint.

And this paint got everywhere. You end up leaving the event looking like you started World War III with a box of colored chalk…and lost. All while running and dancing to a live band playing tunes from the 80s and a DJ blaring out the dance music loud enough to wake up England.

The day was so much fun, full of laughter and happiness. So it got me thinking…

What would this event look like if it was like a horror movie??

What an awesome video of the Rainbow Run. Your production skills may have frightened me enough to participate next year.
I’ll definitely have to add it to my SubscribeDublin directory of, hmmmm… I’m not sure how to categorize it. Would you call it a festival or sport? I think you were having way too much fun in this “fun run” to call it sport.

I would definitely call it entertainment, more like a festival. There wasn’t much serious running going on!

Got something to say? Would love to hear from you!
